Maybe the NHL should be investigating the Sabres...no way a NHL team can play that poor. IMO

nice read.... like you, i'm of the view it was Buffalo. show me that when you are playing boston, montreal, pitt, tbay or detroit, and i may start believing again.

but that buffalo team last night, looked like the leafs team from saturday, absolutely no interest in being at the ACC.

good 2 pts though.

No. Its called "Rebuilding" in proper terms.

I understand that they are going to be bad, but this is just embarrassing. 10 shots on goal. I mean C'mon. You are in the industry of entertainment and right now it is a train wreck.

I was all for the year being bad and Buffalo being in last, but I was at least hoping for a little entertainment. now 3 goals in its last 15+ periods of hockey.

no its not, however seeing as it was buffalo and the leafs for the most part always find a way to get embarrassed by buffalo or any bottom dweller for that matter...

ah nevermind, this win does nothing but confuse the situation even more.

We'll find out Friday/Saturday. They're getting positive (better) possession play from a couple of the lines. This weekend will be a big test for the new Kadri-Kessel combo. If they can compete hard and have some success against Clb and Chi then maybe this is some real and positive change. The 4th line still isn't good enough either.

Colin, you're partly right. It was a can't win; can only lose game: lose and they're absolutely pathetic, win and of course they did - it was the Sawbrays.

I'm not sure about the 1st two periods though - there were tons of quality chances, a couple posts, Kadri squeezing his stick too tight or they would have put 2 or 3 in and it would be a 6-0 drubbing. I'm also not sure how you can be critical of a defense that gives up a total of 10 shots over 60 minutes and barely any quality chances I can remember.

That being said, it was the Sawbrays.

I agree. I would like to see how they follow this up. This game will be quickly forgotten if we go back to the old leafs against stonger completion. You have to start somewhere though and this was a well needed win.

Beating the Sharks must have been very clever subterfuge. When a poopty team has a poopty night, that'll be the result. When a mediocre team like the Leafs has a poopty night, we get what we saw Saturday.

A win Friday and they are on a 90 point pace for the year, about what you would expect from a lower middle of the pack team.

Two losses on the weekend and they will officially be in lottery territory. That wouldn't be a surprise either.

This is not a shot, but I don't see Toronto as world beaters.

Last night the Sabres made the Leafs look like the best team in the league. They do this regularly.

They have been shut out in 4 of the last 6 games. The last 18 periods of hockey they have 3 goals.

I want McEichel as bad as the next guy, but 10 effing shots.

But of course our radio guy Jeremy White says "What did you want?"

What slump? In my opinion, people need to RELAX! Yes, Buffalo is terrible and that is the main reason we were able to outplay them. However, the leafs are a 500 hockey club right now. Was everyone expecting them to make the playoffs or something? Everyone said they would be bottom of the pack. That said, they are actually playing better than expected, no? Is Boston worried? They are under 500 right now....

We all know the leafs arent consistant. Some games they show up, some games they don't.

Buffalo beat San Jose 2-1 somehow....things happen.

All I am saying is...it's been 9 games...lets see how it goes before we judge so quickly.....too early right now. They are in 12th and 4 poitns out of 4th. A lot doesn't make sense yet...its early!

Dominant is dominant so it shouldn't feel completely empty. Bbt at the same time it shouldn't feel too full either. Ray Ferraro was on the radio yesterday and he said that Toronto's problem is that they have too many guys who only want to work when it's convenient. Against Buffalo it's easy to work. There's no resistance and there's no pain involved. But the issue with Toronto is, can they work when it's tough? When you have to work for every inch, not like you do against Buffalo.

I think the Jury is still out , I believe it is only because they played the Sabres

if they can do the same to the blue jackets and even compete with the Hawks on Saturday then I will believe we are trending in the right direction however I just don't see that being the case.

help me out here Colin , I have a question that nobody can seem to answer

if Randy Carlyle is such a defensive minded coach why is his D zone system
such a cluster (frank) ? is it old school thinking and he hasn't changed with the game ? or is his system only as good as the components he is given ?

You need to spend more time in the Leaf thread if you think any of us imagine the Leafs as world beaters. Egg beaters maybe.

I think this is in line with what I posted. A game against a listless Buffalo team isn't much of a litmus test. At the same time, it's tough to be critical about a D that gives up 10 weak shots against any NHL team.

I'm not sure why so many fans of other teams say "Plan the Parade".

Do they know how much we hate the players on our team? And I know they come in the Leafs threads, because every time MTL loses, there's (frank)ing loads of them in there.
